TANG is the business name of my seaweed research work. Tang or Tangle is an old Scots word for seaweed.
In my workshops I use recycled waste paper or cotton linter for the body of the paper and incorporate seaweed as a decorative feature. When I increase the proportion of seaweed - (and I have made paper with 100% seaweed!) the result is much more textured and potentially sculptural and good for 3D artworks. Artists and crafters are using it in all sorts of different ways including painting, printing, collage, cutting, stitching, artist books etc.
I also receive orders from organisations for handmade paper to be printed on for use in displays and other printed materials such as menus. St Andrews Botanic Garden printed text and images from a book to display at an exhibition (below) Treasures of the Deep. There are many variables and it all depends on the what the paper is going to be used for.
