Mental May

My diary in May was almost impossible but I'm nearly there! Juggling workshops, dog-sitting and opening my studio for three days has been exhilarating rather than exhausting.

One of my Instagram followers came into the studio unexpectedly - a seaweed fan all the way from Alabama! Another regular visitor to Open Studios Clare brought her family and mother and everyone found a painting to please them. 

Other events included the workshops at Art in the Park, a new week-long programme of events in Craigtoun Park,  St Andrews. Such interesting and varied people seem want to learn more about paper and seaweed - from someone who worked in the  Fife paper-making industry for 14 years to a storyteller bone carver from Finland to a Russian family there for mum's birthday treat.

The highlight has to be the people who seek me out - some already seaweed fans and others happy to be converted!

One of my favourite people was Willow...who felt that a long piece of sugar kelp belonged in one place only - on her head!

Looking forward to World Ocean Day celebrations in Newburgh, second workshops with Dalgety Bay Art Club and Methilhill Community Children's Initiative plus a new one Seaweed Pressing at the Steeple Studios, Newburgh.
