Washed up sugar kelp stems mixed with metal, mirror and beach debris are the basis of a new body of work in the making. These works are small sculptural pieces and will be shown on a new website - www.tangscot.com. Tang is an old Scots word for seaweed - specifically wrack.
The work is a continuation of the Masters, letting materials speak and bringing together human and non-human, organic and man-made, in thought-provoking combinations. The materials continue to change responding to the atmosphere reflecting the constant instability both locally around the intertidal zone and globally in light of accelerated climate change and warming oceans.
