Meffan Winter Show

Painting away with no particular plan just playing with colour, shape and texture when these two works emerged.
.
The more I looked, the more  I saw that reminded me of Gourdon, a fishing village in Aberdeenshire, where I walked every day during winter 2021. Harbour machinery, chains, winches, boats off loading creels of crabs and lobster every week.

And in the second one a bird of prey appeared giving me the eye probably because I'd seen Why Not Scotland? and watched a programme about the return of the Egyptian Vulture in Europe.

I'd also been reading a book about one of my fave painters, Peter Lanyon, and looking at his work, deconstructed realities of traditional industries in Cornwall such as tin mining.

So now they are off to Angus selected for the Meffan Winter Show in Forfar.
Let's hope they find a new home!
