Lifeline, a copper/kelp assemblage, has found a buyer in Kirkcudbright which is nice news. Disappointed not to win the John Byrne Award but some good feedback which is just as important. The judges said that it is "a beautiful piece of work that intertwines the natural and industrial in a new and arresting way. Although the idea may not be new, the execution certainly is!". And for that we congratulate you. In the end, it was incredibly close between all the shortlisted work, and we just found that the winning entry more fully fulfilled all of the judging criteria. All shortlisted submissions were of a high standard, and yours very much deserved its place on the list.
Meanwhile back at base things have been picking up speed in preparation for North East Fife Open Studios 29 April-1 May. More seaweedy stuff including cyanotypes, collages and assemblages plus my new love affair with limpets is leading to some unusual creations.
