It's been a long time since I checked in here. Six months. Just shows how doing a Masters takes over your life. Having moved from Aberdeenshire for a spell in Angus, I am now permanently based in Fifie - my home for over 20 years before I went wandering. It's the same but different as I am now in Newburgh, a village on the Tay which in the past I only drove through. Now I am getting to know it better and there's plenty to discover. So much so it has its own entry in Undiscovered Scotland. All hands have been on deck as friends have helped me get the flat into some sort of order. Love the place, the people but especially the view down the hill, across the Tay and its vast reedbeds and up to the hills of Perthshire. April is a demanding month on the Masters with two essays to submit - Philosophy and Creative/Critical Writing, plus a Research Proposal plus prep for a Work in Progress Studio Critique. Crabs are still theme and have provided a starting point for all of the above, Now I am working with the sea in a kind of collaboration with the natural energy of the tides...challenging and cold. Letting the sea wash over portraits and sketches adding and taking away from the artworks. More to come soon...
