UPDATE 21/03/2022
Made it to the target - £5000! Thanks to huge support from friends and family which was matched by Creative Scotland's Crowdmatch competition. In just under a week which is amazing. Have signed the studio lease and will get the key to the door on Friday 1 April. Exciting times! UPDATE 15/03/22 Amazing support from friends, family, former colleagues and complete strangers yesterday meant that the first milestone was reached - over 30 people and over £1000 - so Creative Scotland has added £1000 to the pot! THANK YOU EVERYONE! The studio will be mine! 14/03/22 Today's the day that I take my first step to securing funding for a studio and workshop space with the help of Creative Scotland. As one of 20 shortlisted artists in Scotland, I have the chance of winning a share of £75,000 (up to a max of £10,000) to set up and equip a dedicated workspace for making seaweed creations - from prints to 'wareables' to sculptures. Luckily there is a studio available in my village offered by WASPS, (Workshops and Artists Studio Provision Scotland), an organisation which re-purposes old buildings for the use of artists. It has about 20 buildings across Scotland including a converted church in my little village of Newburgh. My application has been accepted so I will be joining 6 other artists in my new space in The Steeple from April! Creative Scotland will match fund what I raise from friends, family and fellow seaweed lovers as long as there are at least 30 people supporting the project. So I am galvanising the troops to contribute as quickly as possible so I am in with a chance to secure some of the prize money! LINK to Crowdfunder
